Record Video

New Digication ePortfolios allow you to record and embed a video file directly from your web browser with any webcam you have connected to your computer.

Please note: This feature is currently unavailable while using the Safari web browser. If you would like to use Record Video for your ePortfolio, we recommend using either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browser.

First, select the Add Content button (1) in the lower right corner of your selected section.

If this is your first time using your computer's camera with Digication, your web browser will prompt you to give dialog.files.digication.com permission to use your camera. Select Allow (3) to give your ePortfolio access to your camera. The example below is what the permission prompt from the Google Chrome web browser will look like.

When you are ready to record, you can click the Record button (4) in the bottom center of your screen.

You will see a Red Dot and the message 'Archiving On' (5) at the bottom of your recording window to let you know that your camera is recording and your stream is being saved. At any time before or during your recording, you can select the microphone toggle (6) in the upper right to mute your microphone. When you are done recording, click the Record button (7) at the bottom center of your screen to finish your recording session.

If you are not satisfied with your recording, you can discard it and start again by clicking the X button (8), or Deselect All (9).  When you are ready, select the Upload button (10) to start processing your recordings for your ePortfolio.

When the upload is complete, your ePortfolio will need a little extra time to process for your ePortfolio video player. You can navigate away from this page and continue to work on other parts of your ePortfolio while your recording processes.

Depending on your Notification Settings, you will receive a Digication Notification when processing has finished. Clicking the notification will direct you to the page where you will see a snapshot preview of your video and a play button, letting you know your file is ready to play!
