Listed below are the planned updates to the New Digication ePortfolio platform for August 2017. All changes are announced to the Digication Administrators via email two weeks prior to their effective date.
Change: Templates cannot be saved with Public visibility settings
√ Announced: Tuesday, August 15th, 2017
Effective: Tuesday, August 29th, 2017
When you save a new Template, you can set who is able to view and access your Template from the Library with the Template permission settings. Starting on August 29th, Administrators, Faculty, and Students will no longer be able to save their Templates with the Public permission setting. This change is temporary while we develop a better method for users to share and browse through Public Templates. At that time, the Public option will be re-enabled for all users.
Please note: If you need to share a Template outside your institution, you can contact Digication Support for assistance.
Change: The Header slide cannot be set as an Instruction slide
√ Announced: Friday, August 18th, 2017
Effective: Friday, September 1st, 2017
When you create an ePortfolio that will be saved as a Template, you have an option to set any slides on your ePortfolio as an Instruction slide. Starting on September 1st, the Header slide on all New Digication ePortfolios will no longer be able to be set as an Instruction slide. This change will be permanent because Instruction slides are not visible in your ePortfolio's Published view and the Header slide is required to navigate an ePortfolio.
Feature: Publish Pages
√ Announced: Friday, August 18th, 2017
Effective: Friday, September 1st, 2017
As you make changes across multiple ePortfolio pages, you would normally have to publish each page individually. Starting on September 1st, you will have the option to select and publish multiple pages at the same time.
After selecting Publish Pages from your ePortfolio menu, you will be able to select which pages you would like to Publish.
Feature: LTI support for New Digication
√ Announced: Friday, August 18th, 2017
Effective: End of September 2017
If your school or institution utilizes Digication with an LTI service such as Blackboard or Canvas, there are currently limited options to use New Digication ePortfolios from your LTI dashboard. Starting late September, there will be improved support options with New Digication ePortfolios for LTI services.
New Digication or Classic Digication?
While viewing the Digication plugin for your course, you will see a toggle switch at the top of the Digication plugin allowing you to switch between accessing New Digication and Classic Digication with ease.
Define Templates for Students
The first time you visit your course during the setup process, you will see a button prompting you to define templates for your students. If the slider at the top of the page is set to New Digication when you click the button, you will access the Digication Library and be able to set New Digication templates for your LTI connected course.
Feature: Additional Fonts for ePortfolios
√ Announced: Friday, August 18th, 2017
Effective: Friday, September 1st, 2017
On September 1st, there will be additional fonts for you to customize text in your ePortfolios.
Change: Initial Privacy Settings Description
√ Announced: Friday, August 25th, 2017
Effective: Friday, September 8th, 2017
When you create an ePortfolio from a Template that has customized permission settings, the description of your initial ePortfolio permission settings may not be accurate and can some confusion. On September 8th, the permission description for new ePortfolios will be changed to "Your ePortfolio will be private initially, then you will be prompted later with the Template’s recommended permission settings." to help avoid confusion.
Change: Introduction Text on Create an ePortfolio Modal Window
√ Announced: Friday, August 25th, 2017
Effective: Friday, September 8th, 2017
When you create a new ePortfolio from your Digication Dashboard and you have the ability to create a Classic or New Digication ePortfolio, you will see a short Introduction screen that has outdated text from earlier in the development of New Digication. On September 8th, the Introduction text when you create a New ePortfolio will be updated with a more accurate message.
