Create a template for an assignment

Version: Kora Courses, April 14, 2023 or later

Permissions required: Faculty

Create and customize template

  1. Create or open an assignment.
  2. Select “Use prompt(s) or template” (1).
  3. Select “Use template” (2).

Create based on template or from scratch

Create based on template

  1. Click “Based on existing template” (3) to build a new template from an existing one.

  1. Select a template (4) and click “Use this template” (5).

  1. A copy of the template will appear in “Create assignment” (6).
  2. Click “Edit” (7) from “Edit Assignment” or “Edit” (8) from Library “Menu”.

NOTE: When selecting a template in the Library, it provides the capability to "Use this Template" and a new menu with options to copy, edit, or delete a template (if permitted). This eliminates the need to enter the Preview mode to access those options.

Create from scratch

  1. Click “Create from scratch” (9) to create a brand-new template.

  • The new template and page titles will match the assignment name (10).
  • The template will include and an instructions section with the assignment description (11).

Customize template content

  1. Customize the template as desired.

NOTE: Template content will be visible to those with whom the template is shared only after it is published. Please see “Publish,” later in this article.

  1. Return to assignment creation at any time by clicking “Close” (12).

  1. Return to editing by clicking “Edit” (13).

  • The template will be shared with course faculty members and students automatically.

Publish

NOTES:

  • Changes are saved automatically.
  • Those with whom a template is shared will be able to see changes to the template only once those changes are published.
  1. Click “Share” (1), then “Share settings” (2).
