Working with Rubrics

Version: Kora Courses, April 14, 2023 or later

Permissions required: Administrator

  • Outcomes can have rubrics associated with them.
  • Rubrics allow for the assessment of one or more criteria connected with an outcome.
  • Outcomes without a rubric are assessed either as fulfilled or not.
  • Administrators can work with rubrics in the following ways:
    • Associate - Rubrics can be used to assess both program/institutional and course-based learning outcomes. You can choose which rubric to use by associating the rubric with the outcome.
    • Create - Administrators can create rubrics that can be used to assess learning outcomes for courses. Also, they can create rubrics for program or institutional outcomes.
    • Import - Administrators can import rubrics from any source, whether course-based or institutional/program-based.
    • Edit - They can edit any rubric whether course-based or institutional/program-based.
    • Delete - They can delete any rubric.

Associate Rubrics with Outcome

  • Hover over the outcome and click “Outcome info [font awesome ‘i’]” (1).
  • Click “Associate a rubric with this outcome” (2)

  • Associate a rubric using one of the following options
    • Replace with a new rubric (3)
    • Select an existing rubric (4).
  • Click “Save” (5).

  • The associated rubric (6) is displayed under the “Associated rubric” (7).

Create Rubrics

  • Administrators can create rubrics for course-based learning outcomes as well as for program or institutional outcomes.
  • You can create one or more rubrics for an outcome. When there are multiple rubrics, you can select one as the default. 
  • Having multiple rubrics is useful to assess an outcome in different contexts.

EXAMPLE

The outcome may have different rubrics for undergraduate and graduate-level students.

  • While viewing an expanded outcome, click "Add rubric" (8).

  • Click “Create new rubric” (9).

Import Rubrics

Import from Digication Kora

  • While viewing an expanded outcome, click “Add rubric” (10).

  • You can search for an outcome if it does not appear automatically (11).
  • Hover over the outcome with the rubric you want to import and click [font awesome “i”] (12).

  • Click the rubric to import (13).
  • You can preview a rubric (14).

  • Make any desired changes to the rubric, then click “Save” (15).

Import from Classic

  • In "Outcomes," while viewing an expanded outcome, click "Add rubric" (16)

  • Click “IMPORT FROM CLASSIC” (17).

  • You can search for a rubric if the one you want does not appear automatically (18).
  • Click “Import” (19).

  • Make any desired changes to the rubric, then click “Save.”

View Rubrics

  • Expand an outcome (1).

  • Click a rubric (2).

  • You can view the rubric in full screen (3).
  • You will see the rubric details (4).

Edit Rubrics

  • While viewing an expanded outcome click “Edit” (5).

  • Make desired changes to the rubric.

Delete Rubrics

  • Administrators can delete any rubric whether they are course-based or institutional/program-based.
  • In "Outcomes," while viewing an expanded outcome, click "Delete" (6).

  • Confirm the deletion (7).

WARNING

Deleting a rubric erases all associated assessment data.
