A "theme" in Digication refers to the visual look and feel of the ePortfolio. Some schools will create a bunch of themes for students to use. However, if your school does not have any themes, you can still have fun with the look and feel of your ePortfolio by customizing your theme.
Click on the "Customize" Button Underneath "Default Style"
Select a Directory Icon
Upload an image to customize as your directory icon. You can choose a picture of yourself or a photo that's important to you or related to the work you will be sharing in your ePortfolio. This icon will show in your school's ePortfolio directory and will help people recognize your ePortfolio easily.
Once uploaded as indicated in the description, it will automatically be resized to 100x100 pixels. Once you've finished uploading your new icon, you can click "Save" and it will appear in all directories.
Change Your Header Image
You can replace your school's default banner by uploading an image that's a maximum of 779 pixels wide and 200 pixels high. Be creative and have fun! If at any time you feel like switching back to the default header you can do so by selecting "Default Header Image" and clicking "Save" at the bottom of the page.
Changing Background Color
The basic Digication ePortfolio theme has gray as it's background color.
Click on the small box next to "Background Color" to open a color picker
Once the color picker is open, you can click on the large area of color to select your shade (1), toggle up and down to select your hue (2), or input the hex code for the color you want if you have it handy (3).
After selecting your color, click on the "Save" button at the bottom of the page
Viewing your background color
As you'll see, once the background color value is entered and saved it will appear behind your content.
Uploading a Background Image
Images can also be used as backgrounds for the ePortfolio theme as well. Here's how to add an image to the background of an ePortfolio:
Click on "Use Background Image"
Click on "Choose File"
Find the image you want to use in your browser
Once you've found the image, you can select and click "Open" or simply double-click it to begin the upload.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page
After your image has been selected and uploaded, you'll see it's name appear underneath "Choose File" and then you're ready to hit "Save" at the bottom of the page to retain your changes.
Viewing your background image
As you'll see here, my background image shows, but it's a little off. It's important to note that the larger the image, the more area of the background it will cover. However, you can also change how the background image is aligned and even make it repeat!
Background Image Repeat
Once an image is uploaded, you can also specify whether or not the image repeats and how it does so. Below are examples of the different types of repeating possible:
Horizontal and Vertical Repeat
Background Image Position
This option allows you to specify where the image starts. For larger images that cover most of the background, they can be centered. But users can also experiment with mixing images with background colors in different configurations with limitless variation.
The Preview Button
The "Preview" button below the background color and image fields will allow you to preview changes made in real time. This allows you to see what the background will look like before clicking on the "Save" button.
For users with advanced technical abilities and knowledge of CSS, there are even more options! All of the elements available for editing can be found in this custom field ad editing according to the user's specifications. If at any point the user would like to reset the CSS, they can do so using the "Reset" button (1) in the upper right hand corner of this area.
The open footer area allows you to add a phrase or any information you'd like to appear under your ePortfolio.
To add content into your footer type in the provided field...

Viewing your footer
Your footer text will appear directly under your ePortfolio before the other footer links and copyright information.
