View your progress in the Gradebook

Version: Kora Courses, October 20, 2024 or later

Permissions required: Student

  • Students can easily view assignment details such as name, description, latest and previous submissions, assessment details, and Course information from the Gradebook individual view.
  • Students can submit, resubmit, and add work for assignments directly from the Gradebook.
  • Students can use filtering and display options to customize their view so that they can easily view specific assignments, assessments, or outcomes that are most relevant.

Open Gradebook individual view

  • Select a preferred assignment (1) and click the "View in Grade Book" (2).

View Gradebook

  • The course name (1) is displayed at the top of the page.
  • Assignments belonging to the course are listed one after the other (2).
  • A "SUBMITTED" label (3) indicates that the student has submitted the assignment. 
  • A "DUE: IN X DAYS" label (4) indicates that the assignment is due within the specified timeframe. 
  • A "DUE: X DAYS AGO" label (5) indicates that the assignment was due X days ago and is now overdue.
  • The "SUBMIT" button (6) appears next to an assignment when the student has in-progress work but has not yet submitted their work.
  • The "RESUBMIT" button (7) becomes available after an initial submission.
  • The "ADD WORK" button (8) is present for students to add new work. 
  • The "MY SUBMISSION" section (9) shows the student’s submitted work along with the submission timestamp.
  • The "more" option allows you to view multiple submissions made to the same assignment (10).
  • The "DELETE SUBMISSION" option (11) allows students to remove their submitted work.
  • The student's name (12) appears prominently at the footer of the page.
  • Display outcomes that have been set for evaluation in the assignment but have not yet been evaluated (13).

  • Provides information about outcome assessments (1), including the score given (2), the reviewer (faculty, self, or peer) (3), and the average score if multiple assessments have been made (4).
  • An info icon (5) to access additional details about outcomes and rubrics for each outcome assessment.
  • Additional outcomes are displayed with a purple tag (6).
  • Outcomes with a score below the passing score are highlighted with a red border (7).

Filter by Assignment, Assessment, Outcome Type, and Outcomes

  • Click the dropdown (1) next to "Filter by: ASSIGNMENT" and select or deselect the checkboxes (2) next to the assignment names to choose which assignments you want to list.

  • Click the dropdown (3) next to "Filter by: ASSESSMENT" and select or deselect the checkboxes (4) to filter assessments based on who reviewed them (faculty, self, or peer). This allows you to choose which assessments, depending on the reviewer, you want to display.

  • Click the dropdown (5) next to "Filter by: OUTCOME TYPE" and select or deselect the checkboxes to filter based on the outcome type.
  • Selecting "Required outcomes" (6) will display the outcomes that were previously configured and set for the assignment.
  • Enabling "Show outcomes without assessment" (7) will display outcomes that have been pre-set on the assignment but have not yet been used to evaluate the submissions.
  • Selecting "Additional outcomes" (8) will display outcomes that are newly created by faculty, peers, or students during evaluations, which were not pre-set in the assignment by the faculty.

  • Click on “Outcomes” (9) selection filter to choose which outcomes (10) you want to display in the Gradebook.
  • Click the Deselect All (11) option to clear all previously selected outcomes.

Display options

  • Click on "DISPLAY" (1) to show the display settings.
  • Enable the toggle next to "Grade" (2) to show the grade value for assignments. Disable it to hide the grade value.
  • Click the toggle next to “Assessment” (3) to show or hide outcome assessments.
  • Click the toggle next to "Non-gradable assignment" (4) to show or hide non-gradable assignments.

Submit, Resubmit, or Add Work

With the Gradebook Individual View, you can manage all your assignment submissions in one place, whether you need to, add work for the first time, submit, resubmit, or add more work.

Add Work

To add work, click the "Add Work" (1), then create new work or select existing work to proceed.

Submit Work

  • Select an assignment you wish to submit work for and click the "Submit" (2). Then you can select the pages of your work that you want to submit, and click "Submit."

Resubmit Work

  • Assignments with initial submissions can be resubmitted by clicking the "Resubmit" (3). Select the pages you want to update, and then click "Submit."

Manage submissions

View submissions

  • Your latest submission (1) is displayed as a preview, making it easy to review your most recent work.
  • Click the "x more" option (2), to view all previous submissions made to the same assignment.

Delete submissions

  • If you need to delete a submission, click the "X" icon (1) next to your submission.

  • A confirmation prompt (2) will appear, warning you that this action cannot be undone, and you can either cancel or confirm the deletion.

View outcome assessment details

  • Click on the outcome assessment tag (1) to view more details to see details such as the scores given (2), the reviewer (faculty, self, or peer) (3), and the average score if multiple assessments have been made (4).

NOTE: In scenarios where an average calculation cannot be performed due to multiple rubrics being used for evaluations by different reviewers, a red icon will be displayed with a message to notify users.

  • Click the info icon (5) on an assessment tag to view detailed information about the associated outcome (6) and rubric (7). If a rubric is associated with the outcome, you can click on the rubric link (8) to view more details (9) about it.

  • Click on an outcome score (10) to view more details about the outcome assessment.

  • In the outcome assessment window (1), click the expand/collapse icon (2) to expand or collapse the window. Click the minimize/maximize icon (3) to resize the window. Click the cancel icon (4) to close the window.
  • You can switch between the Grade (5) and Outcomes (6) tabs to view grade and outcome details.

  • Switch to the Conversations tab (7) to start conversations. You can type your comment (8), select the audience to view it (9) and click "Send." (10).

Add assessment scores

  • Click on the "Score here" option (1) to add a new assessment score.

  • Once clicked, it opens up a new window. There in the outcome assessment window (2), click the expand/collapse icon (3) to expand or collapse the window. Click the minimize/maximize icon (4) to resize the window. Click the cancel icon (5) to close the window.
  • Click the "plus" icon (6) to select existing outcomes or create a new outcome for evaluations.
  • If the outcome is associated with a rubric, you can add scores (7) or comments (8).
  • Use the GRADE (9) and OUTCOMES (10) tabs to switch between the outcome assessment window and assignment grade options.

Close Gradebook

  • To exit the Gradebook and return to the course home page, click "CLOSE GRADE BOOK" (1).
