Also, in keeping with our commitment to providing a two-week notice in advance of any changes to our user interface, we would like to let you know about some upcoming feature and accessibility improvements that will occur on or after December 23, 2024.
Downtime scheduled maintenance - 12/27/2024
We would like to inform you about an upcoming scheduled maintenance for Digication. We plan to perform essential updates to enhance system stability and performance during this time.
Maintenance Details:
Date: December 27, 2024
Expected Duration: 12:00 AM to 5:30 AM EST
Please be aware that all systems will be temporarily unavailable or may face interruptions during this maintenance window.
We apologize for the inconvenience to our community and appreciate your understanding as we complete these necessary updates.
Upcoming new features
- The ability for faculty to delete submissions.
- A new button to move modules between sections.
The ability for Faculty to delete submissions
With our upcoming new feature, faculty members will soon have the ability to remove student submissions directly from the submissions list on the assessment page. Each submission will include a Cancel icon, allowing faculty to delete submissions as needed. With this release, both the submitting student and the faculty reviewing the assessment will have the option to delete a submission. This functionality will not be available to peer reviewers.
A new button to move modules between sections
In the upcoming release, we're making it easier to rearrange modules across sections. When you hover over a module, you’ll see a new Move Module button(s). The buttons available will depend on the module’s position within the section:
- Top Module: A single button to move the module to the section below.
- Middle Module: Two buttons to move the module to the section above or below.
- Bottom Module: A single button to move the module to the section above.
For pages with only one section, the Move Module button will not appear.
Recent bug fixes
August
- Fixed the broken user interface and incorrect placement of the copy tooltip in the Organizer Tool.
September
- Resolved the issue where users were unable to edit or add text to empty cells in certain table modules.
- Fixed the copy and paste section function from one ePortfolio to another and reintroduced the move button within the Organizer Tool.
October
- Removed the "Editor" checkbox from the Permission dropdown on the Add Work page. The dropdown now only includes the "Admin" and "Publisher" checkboxes.
- Fixed the issue where the "Show More" button did not appear when multiple users were present on the People page.
- Fixed the issue where long website URLs in the Website column caused the date to be partially cut off or the white background to not cover the full text.
- Fixed the problem where edits to table modules on iPhone mobile devices did not autosave.
- Fixed the issue where the spacebar did not function correctly in table modules. Now, it allows users to correctly add spaces without highlighting unintended rows or needing to re-engage the cell on both mobile and desktop devices.
November
- Fixed the issue where all subpages appeared active when only the parent page was active. When a sub or sub-sub page is active, the parent and grandparent pages now also appear active.
- Fixed the issue where the Google Slides embed displayed an obscured view with extra blank space when attempting to view in full-screen mode. The embed now defaults to slideshow mode, and the option to toggle modes has been removed.
- Fixed the broken log download link sent in the email for CSV imports. Users can now download the log file directly after logging in. Also, emails will no longer include a download link if there are no errors in the upload.
Accessibility improvements
- Resolved an issue where users, upon logging in, could not exit the notifications dialog without selecting an option. A close button ('X') and escape key support were added to the exit. The dialog now defaults to "Turn On Notifications" when closed.
- A visually hidden heading was added to the prompts and template section in the assignment create/edit flow to improve navigation for screen readers.
- Improved arrow key navigation to access input fields in assignment create/edit flow after accessing visually hidden headings using the tab option.
- Added a screen reader notification when users add an equation to a text field. This announces to the users which equation was selected and applied.
- Corrected the label for the keyboard shortcuts button from "keyboard shotcuts" to "keyboard shortcuts".
- Updated screen readers to read rich text editor toolbar buttons only when users hit “Enter” after focusing on the toolbar. If users hit the “Tab” rich text editor toolbar buttons will be skipped, and users are directly navigated to the rich text editor.
- Updated navigation for screen reader users to use the “tab” to directly move the focus from one module's delete icon to the rich text toolbar when there's a prompt, before the prompt toolbar buttons.
- Updated the entire prompt instruction to be a visually hidden heading to make it easier for a screen reader to navigate directly to different prompts.
- Improved heading hierarchy to provide a clear and consistent structure. Page title (H1), section title (H2), module title (H3), visually hidden prompt instruction (H3), and headings inside the rich text module (H4).
- Fixed an issue where the screen reader did not announce the active or selected state of an assignment in the assignment list panel on the “My Assignments and Activities” page.
- Improved the accessibility of the "View/Edit Selected" button in the file manager by adding a label, assigning proper tab index attributes, and making it keyboard accessible. Screen readers now read the button, and when it is disabled, they correctly announce its disabled state.
- Updated screen readers to announce "Assignment work page(s) added” in the "Add Work" flow for selecting work. Each listed work item is announced as "Add assignment to <work name>".
Kind Regards,
