RESOLVED: Digication File Upload Errors December 5, 2019

Dear Digication Community,

UPDATE:  The issues with new uploads of docx, pptx and xlsx files have been fully resolved. 

The upload issues with certain kinds of new file uploads - specifically, Word documents, Power Point presentations and Excel files - have now been resolved. These issues started at approximately 1:00pm Eastern time and ended at approximately 4:09pm Eastern time on December 5th, and were unrelated to errors experienced earlier in the week.

When uploaded, those docx, pptx and xlsx file formats were showing a gray box and an "Unexpected server response" error message. Files uploaded during this time will still show the gray box instead of the file - they will need to be re-uploaded, or replaced with a PDF.

Previously uploaded files that were already displaying correctly within ePortfolios do not need to be replaced or re-uploaded.
PDF files and media files (images/audio/video) uploaded normally during this time.

For this incident, the issues were with the handling of the display of certain proprietary file formats (Microsoft Office files) not owned by Digication. Some features involve variables beyond Digication’s control and while we cannot completely prevent errors from ever occurring, Digication works with 3rd party vendors to help ensure a high level of stability while handling and displaying content from many different sources.

We are sincerely sorry for the file upload issues our community experienced today and for the frustration they caused at this busy time!
