Digication Development and Accessibility Update - 10/19

Dear Digication Community, 

We would like to share several upcoming updates to our user interface.  These updates will occur the week of November 8th and they will improve the usability and accessibility of Digication. Most users who do not regularly use screen readers will not be affected by these changes.

These changes will include:

• Improvements to screen reader interactions throughout the Digication interface
  
• Minor adjustments to colors and spacing in the user interface

While this update includes many changes that apply to user interfaces throughout Digication, the following highlights some of the accessibility updates:

Login Page

• When leaving the navigation area, the D button now closes automatically
  
• Link outlines are now consistent across browsers
  
• “Skip To” link is no longer obscured by the "D" button
  
• Focus indicators for buttons were made more prominent
  
• Navigation landmark is visible to screen readers now

Miscellaneous

• Improvements to tab order and focus on page elements
  
• Label added to the Math Equation textarea
  
• Focus indicators added to module editing view
  
• Accessible names added to the fonts in inline style toolbar and in module editing
  
• Date/time picker in course creation was updated to be more consistent with other date/time pickers
  
• Equation editor icon has been updated
