Digication Accessibility Update - Jan 31, 2022

Dear Digication Community,

As a leading provider of ePortfolio and Assessment solutions, we consider it our utmost responsibility to ensure that no users are excluded for any reason.  For this reason, we are committed to providing a product that is fully accessible for all users. We consider this an ongoing process, requiring constant evaluation, feedback, and improvement, and an important aspect of this process is clearly documenting and communicating to our community the various accessibility measures we have taken.

To do so, we maintain a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT), which provides a thorough record of the measures we have taken to ensure that our product is accessible for those with disabilities. We are happy to let you know that today, we are publishing an updated version of our VPAT.

We rely on the Revised 508 Standards for IT accessibility, which are based upon Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA, as our standard for accessibility.

While this updated version is largely similar to our previous VPAT, there are some key differences. Each criterion that has been updated is listed below.

1.3.1 Info and Relationships: Information, structure, and relationships conveyed through presentation can be programmatically determined or are available in text. (Level A)

The text content of this section was updated to reflect the fact that all forms indicate the required fields.

2.1.1 Keyboard: All functionality of the content is operable through a keyboard interface without requiring specific timings for individual keystrokes, except where the underlying function requires input that depends on the path of the user's movement and not just the endpoints. (Level A)

The text content of this section was updated to reflect that flash based features have been removed.

2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide: For moving, blinking, scrolling, or auto-updating information, all of the following are true: (Level A)

This status was updated from “N/A” to “Supports” as all New Digication pages announce the green alert/ status banners.

2.4.1 Bypass Blocks: A mechanism is available to bypass blocks of content that are repeated on multiple Web pages. (Level A)

The text content of this section was updated to reflect that New Digication provides 'Skip to Main' that allows users who navigate sequentially through content more direct access to the primary content of the page.

2.4.6 Headings and Labels: Headings and labels describe topic or purpose. (Level AA)

The text content of this section was updated to reflect that a fix will be provided by Summer 2022 for labelling user generated modules and sections.

2.4.7 Focus Visible: Any keyboard operable user interface has a mode of operation where the keyboard focus indicator is visible. (Level AA)

The text content of this section was updated to reflect that flash based features have been removed.

Section 1194.22 part (o): The text content of this section was updated to reflect that New Digication provides 'Skip to Main' that allows users who navigate sequentially through content more direct access to the primary content of the page.

Accessibility improvements that contributed to the VPAT changes above:

Screen Reader

  • Alert messages are now read aloud

Miscellaneous

  • Added a “Skip to main content” link to ePortfolio pages, allowing users to bypass repeated content, i.e. header controls, navigation and sidebar, for the main content of the page, i.e. slides and modules

We would like to thank everyone who has helped us identify the accessibility improvements we have implemented and continue to work towards. If you have questions or feedback, as always, we encourage you to reach out to our team at support@digication.com.

Kind regards,

Your friends at Digication
