Create a course with self-enrollment

Version: Kora Courses, July 22, 2025 or later
Permissions required: Faculty

Students can be added to courses in multiple ways.

  1. CSV import (admin access required)
  2. LTI integration with your LMS
  3. Manual adding via UI
  4. Self enrollment

This article covers how to set up self-enrollment, where faculty can create a course and give students the option to join it themselves from the Digication dashboard. This saves time and makes access easier, especially for large or open classes.

If you’re unsure which method to use, contact your institution’s support team or Digication administrator.

  • If you have not yet created any courses, click “Create course or group” (1).

  • You can also enable self-enrollment for students by toggling “Allow students to enroll themselves.” (6) This is optional. If enabled, a password field (7) will appear. You may leave it blank to allow open enrollment, or set a password that students must enter to join the course.
  • Click “Create”(8).

NOTE: The course will appear to students under “Join a course, assessment group or community” on their dashboard (only if it's active and self-enrollment is allowed).
