Manage courses
Permissions required: Administrator
The Course admin tool lets administrators view course and group information, manage and organize courses, search and filter, batch import assignments into multiple courses at once, and enroll themselves in (or unenroll from) any course.
Open the Courses page
In Administration, select Courses. The page is titled Courses & Groups.
View course and group details
Each row shows a course across these columns: Name, Course Number, Sync ID, Course Type, Creator, Faculty, Assignment, Created Time, Start Time, and End Time. Courses connected to a Learning Management System through LTI show an LTI badge next to the name. Use Columns to choose which columns are shown.
Find a course
- Search: type a course name or keyword to locate specific courses.
- Filters: narrow the list by conditions such as course name, number, Sync ID, type, creator, faculty, and date ranges, then clear them to return to the full list.
Create a course
Select Add to open the course creation page and enter the details for the new course. For the full steps, see Create, edit, or delete courses.
Administrators also have an optional Sync ID field, used for integration. It must be unique across courses to avoid conflicts.
Batch import assignments to multiple courses
You can import the same assignments into several courses at once:
1. Select the checkbox for each course you want to include.
2. With at least one course selected, the Action control becomes available. Open it.
3. Choose Add Assignments to selected courses to go to the assignment selection page.
For the assignment selection steps, see Import assignments. A confirmation appears once assignments are imported.
Edit a course
Each row's Action column has an edit control that opens that course's settings.
Enroll yourself in a course
Open a course by selecting its name. If you do not have access, a prompt asks whether you want to add yourself as a faculty member to that course. Select Add to gain access. The course's People page then lists you with the Faculty role.
Unenroll from a course
On a course you added yourself to, select Remove Me, then confirm to unenroll. This removes your access to the course.
