Important Development Update: Classic ePortfolios and Courses - 01/16/2025

Dear Digication Community,

We’re writing to inform you of an important update regarding Digication Classic ePortfolios and Classic courses.

Important Development Update: Classic ePortfolios and Courses

While we value the ability to access historical data, we also must work to maintain the highest standards of data security and system performance. In order to keep our systems robust and secure, we will begin phasing out Classic ePortfolios and Classic courses on July 15, 2025.

The first public iteration of Digication’s ePortfolio platform, our Classic ePortfolios, was introduced in 2005.

In October 2016, we released a beta version of our updated ePortfolios, called New Digication, and in May 2019, New Digication ePortfolios officially replaced Classic ePortfolios.

Similarly, the Digication Classic course interface was publicly released in 2005.

In April 2023, we launched a public beta of Digication Kora Courses, and Digication Kora Courses were fully released into production in November 2023.

Classic ePortfolios

Classic ePortfolios will no longer be accessible for editing or viewing online after July 15, 2025. Classic ePortfolios will no longer appear in the directory, and links to them that appear in search results in search engines such as Google will no longer be valid. Those links will be removed from search results as search engines re-crawl our directory.

Users can take steps to preserve or upgrade their Classic ePortfolio content as described below.

- Export Your Data until July 15

You can download your Classic ePortfolio as a zip file to preserve your content offline. This option will not be available after July 15, 2025.

Instructions for downloading your Classic ePortfolio

- Upgrade your Classic ePortfolio

Transition your Classic ePortfolio to the New Digication version. (This option will remain available after July 15th.)

Instructions for upgrading your Classic ePortfolio (please review carefully as there are limitations on how the data gets upgraded)

Your classic ePortfolios after July 15th

After July 15, 2025, if you log into your account, you will still be able to see a listing of Classic ePortfolios. Even though you may no longer view, edit, or download them from the original Classic ePortfolio format, you will still be given the option to upgrade the existing content to the New Digication ePortfolio format at your convenience.

Classic Courses

After July 15, all existing Classic courses will be available in read only mode. Faculty and administrators will continue to be able to access existing Classic courses. Faculty and administrators will not be able to create or edit assignments, add or remove students, or accept any further submissions or assess any submissions.

  • Access Classic: A list of Classic courses will remain visible on the dashboard.
  • Read-Only Access: Faculty members will maintain read-only access to the following data:
    • Assignment grids with read-only data on assignments, students, steps, submissions, assessments, and associated rubrics/comments
    • People, ePortfolio, and Gradebook tabs
  • Access to existing ePortfolios and templates: the phasing out of Classic courses will have no impact on existing ePortfolios  or templates.

Students will not have access to Classic courses after July 15, 2025. However, they will continue to have access to their ePortfolios.

If you have any questions or need assistance with the transition, please do not hesitate to reach out to our support team at support@digication.com.
